MANDATORY ELEMENTS

LOG BOOK            10 POINTS (OR MORE)
This journal should include all the exciting adventures you have during the Explorer Simulation.  Extra credit will be given for factual information from your research being incorporated.

RESEARCH EXPLORER            50 POINTS
You will create a presentation about an explorer of your choice.  These explorers must before or during the age of exploration.  You will create a presentation that details the causes leading up to your explorer and the effects of their voyages.  Complete notes, a prewrite, a rough draft, and a final draft are expected.

MAP            10 POINTS
This is a detailed map of the lands/waters that you explorer explored.  We will use the projectors to trace our maps on posters.

ORAL REPORT            10 POINTS
You will present your research presentation to the class.

OPTIONAL ELEMENTS


POSTER OF SHIP/VESSEL            20 POINTS (OR MORE)
This is a detailed and colorful picture at least 81/2 x 11 in. of your explorer’s mode of transportation.  Different parts of the ship should be labeled.  This probably should be TRACED or TRANSFERRED from a book.

3-D MODEL OF SHIP OR VESSEL            20 POINTS (OR MORE)
This is a model of your explorer’s mode of transportation.  Building materials can be almost anything.  Please get Mr. Samson’s permission first before starting this project.

FLAG            10 POINTS
This is a flag of the country or the ship that adorned the vessel of you explorer.  This should be accurate, colorful, and neat.
